HOUNSLOW Council have approved the purchase of a further 10 homes in the High Street Quarter development in Hounslow.

A further 55 affordable flats were acquired by the Council on the same development, run by the developer Barratt, earlier in the year.

The 10 properties include a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes and will be available to rent as social housing.

This is part of the council's commitment to build 1,000 new council homes by 2022.

Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council said: "We are making progress against our Housing Pledge but have seen a rise in the number of households who need rehousing since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We need new homes and these additional properties will help us provide housing for people who need it the most, including the vulnerable and those who have been waiting for a long time on our housing register.

"We want to see that everyone in the borough enjoys a good quality of life, starting with a decent home."

Described by Barratt London as a 'lifestyle district', the new High Street Quarter development will link the existing High Street to the Blenheim Centre.

House prices will range from £337,000 to £582,000 for one, two and three bedroom homes.

The development is situated a 5-minute walk to Hounslow East tube station and 10-minutes from Hounslow station.
