Events coming up in Brentford

Thursday: Hogarth After Dark: Gruesome Georgian Quiz

Enjoy a visit after hours in our Spring Late developed in partnership with the London Transport Museum's Young Freelancer Programme.

Grab a drink and step-down Beer Street to learn more about the grotesque world that inspired Hogarth's prints! Visitors will have the chance to experience the galleries after hours, as well as take part in a quiz all about the gruesome Georgian period! From corruption to lunacy, expect a night packed full of fun, facts, and a bar stocked with beer, wine and soft drinks.

Each quiz table has up to six spaces. Please note unless all six tickets are booked together, you may be in a team with other visitors not from your party.

Friday: Habitat and Biodiversity Walk

Local naturalist Mick Massie from the London Natural History Society will lead this walk around Chiswick House Gardens, joined by wildlife expert Jo Gilbert from Wild Chiswick.

Starting at the Obelisk, the guided 90 minute stroll will visit a few areas in the park to look at how the wildlife in the park fits together.

Hear about plants and invertebrates in the woodland wilderness and lawn areas, how they support local vertebrate populations such as hedgehogs and bats, and finish with a look at wildlife in the Kitchen Garden.

Saturday: Robert Wolfe plays the Mighty Wurlitzer

On Saturday, join Robert Wolfe as he is welcomed back to the Musical Museum.

As a 14-year old school boy and budding organist Robert Wolfe visited the Thursford Collection in Norfolk and approached founder George Cushing to ask if he could play the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ. Mr Cushing happily agreed, as he was already aware of Roberts musical talent.

Little did Robert realise at that time but that brief encounter was to be the start of a long career entertaining the summer visitors at Thursford. Before he took up the full-time post as resident organist, Robert, at the age of 16, became the youngest musician to join the team playing at the famous Tower Ballroom in Blackpool, home of " Mr. Blackpool", the late Reginald Dixon. Incidentally, Robert played for Reg Dixon's 80th Birthday party held at Thursford. He remained there, seated at the world famous Wurlitzer in Blackpool until he was 19 returning to the Norfolk Museum occasionally for one-off concert appearances.
