Hounslow has come in 40th place in ILiveHere's Worst Places to Live in England 2023 poll, ranking it fourth worst in London.

ILiveHere have finished their vote for the worst place to live in England, with 105,598 people voting for towns across the country to be crowned the least desirable place to live.

Hounslow came inside the top 50, in 40th place, at the bottom of the list of serious contenders according to the post outlining the rankings.

In a post on their website, ILiveHere said of Hounslow: "Why is there so much rubbish everywhere in Hounslow? It seems to be common practice to dump items like fridges, beds, old rusty microwaves and stained mattresses on any available street corner or back alley.

"I can't quite work out how or when they dump them, it must be pretty hard not getting seen walking along the road with an extra-large fridge, even at night?

"Aircraft landing gear can be heard dropping down from the A380 monsters that appear to be landing in the high street.

"Hounslow high street is so close to Heathrow runway that the planes are about 30 foot above and if you are new to area, it's quite a shock the first time you see people waving out the cabin Windows.

"I've often thought some of those rubbish bags could be hiding some deadly sins since the smell is just so awful some days, but the smell comes from up the road from a place called Mogden Sewage Works (third largest sewage treatment works in Europe).

"To sum up in a few words- Black, bleak, dirty, knackered old dump sitting on the end of one of the world's busiest runways!!"

The ranking of 40th sees Hounslow voted as the fourth worst place in London, behind only Kensington and Chelsea (14th), Croydon (19th), and Barking and Dagenham (29th).

The top ten worst places were as follows: Bradford, Bournemouth, Swindon, Andover, Aldershot, Aylesbury, Slough, Peterborough, Portsmouth, and Luton came in first place.
