GALLERY: Return to Griffin Park - what's happening at the Bees' old and cherished home?

It's many months since football was last played at Griffin Park.

The Bees are now settled in their new stadium less than half a mile away.

So what's happening now to their old and much cherished home?

A walk around the labyrinth of streets surrounding the ground is slightly eerie.

The floodlights still tower over the cottage-like houses but the ground itself is surrounded by boarding erected by developers EcoWorld.

Every entrance is boarded up, as our pictures above show.

There is little work going on at the site, save for a mobile mini-office that was lit up on the day we visited.

Fans who have not ventured into the area for a long time will be saddened by the boarding up of the Princess Royal pub.

On home games, this watering-hole was packed with supporters enjoying pre-match drinks.

The future of the pub is not clear - our enquiries have produced no response.

In the meantime, planning permission was granted earlier this month for the demolition of the football ground and the construction of a new development for 72 homes and public open space.

It is not clear when work will begin but the development is due for completion in the third quarter of 2023.

In the meantime, Griffin Park, a place steeped in happy memories for generations of supporters, remains empty, abandoned and awaiting its final fate.
