Two restaurateurs are overjoyed to be celebrating the one year birthday of their Chiswick eatery, where they will be serving up sparkling wine to thank their customers.

It will have been one year on 6 December since owners Mustaq and Kuldeep were left feeling helpless after Tier 3 restrictions delayed the launch of their restaurant Republic.

Republic is a casual dining experience combining fine Indian cooking with British seasonal ingredients.

The concept was brought to life by Mustaq Tappewale and Kuldeep Mattegunta, who met at Kricket group's flagship restaurant in Soho, following a collective twenty years' experience in the London dining industry.

Sharing a mutual passion for British-Indian cuisine, the young entrepreneurs envisioned a restaurant that presented a diverse carousel of menus throughout the year, with ingredients inspired by the four British seasons.

However, it was not until May this year that customers were able to walk through the doors of Republic and get a taste of head chef Kuldeep's culinary vision in person.

Before this point, the disappointed owners were forced to share their dishes as takeaways for the first five months of business.

This meant securing loyal customers proved to be a challenge.

Now, half a year later the neighbourhood joint has experienced exceptional growth, usually fully booked in the evenings.

Co-founder Mustaq said: "We are so grateful for the support of the Chiswick community over the past year.

"It's been such a difficult start for our business and we never believed we would get to the point where we are now.

"We are so proud of our journey so far, and can't wait to see where it takes us in 2022".

From the eatery's Winter menu, guests can experience flavour sensations like Berkshire Porkchop served with goan, chorizo and brussel sprout, as well as Welsh Lamb Rajasthani Laal Mass, truly redefining British-Indian cuisine with local ingredients.

The restaurant owners look forward to welcoming their loyal customers into Republic on the 6th December for birthday celebrations, not only commemorating the restaurant, but toasting the local people who have allowed Republic's ever growing success this year.

Find Republic at 301-303 Chiswick High Rd.
