- Ensure consistent delivery of ICT support services to the school/centre, maintaining high-quality learning facilities.
- Oversee the clients ICT service as the Network Manager, addressing advanced troubleshooting, maintaining service levels, and identifying network issues.
- Conduct advanced maintenance of specialised equipment, repairs/modifications, and upgrades within capabilities; coordinate external repairs.
- Prioritise and mentor junior staff, offering advice on working practices and procedures.
- Advise senior staff on potential ICT growth/problems and provide specialist guidance to the School/Centre on ICT requirements.
- Communicate technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
- Monitor stock levels, catalog resources, and advise on future purchasing needs.
- Comply with policies related to child protection, health, safety, security, and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, overseeing the security, accuracy, and relevance of personal data.
- Analyze support logs for management reports and contribute to future support service planning.
- Provide second-level in-school support for complex requests and advise the leadership team on areas of concern.
- Perform advanced diagnosis on hardware, peripherals, and applications.
- Provide advice on hardware and OS compatibility.
- Offer advice on application compatibility based on user requirements.
- Collaborate with the Senior Engineer to design and implement network infrastructure.
- Manage active network components, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Maintain Internet filtering systems and manage remote access to the school's intranet.
- Tailor processes to the specific school and report on their effectiveness.
- Design and implement procedures for receiving and testing ICT equipment.
- Develop procedures for asset disposal and regularly review whole-school system contingency plans.
- Design and implement backup and virus protection policies.
- Implement security systems to protect hardware, data, and confidential information.
- Monitor progress against agreed service levels and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Assist in planning major developments of ICT services.
- Conduct regular checks on client systems, including disk space, backups, event logs, and SNMP traps.
- Lead engineering projects during school holidays.
- Provide a detailed scope of works and design for projects.
- Lead on-site individuals or teams and delegate tasks for project completion.
- Liaise with the account manager to ensure equipment correctness and project success.
- Monitor school, LEA/LA, and legal responsibilities actively.
- Develop relevant H&S procedures and ensure ICT users follow appropriate practices.
- Demonstrate self-regulation.
- Perform any additional tasks deemed appropriate by the Technical Management Team or Company Directors.
- Two or more years managing Enterprise-level Network infrastructures/a Service Desk.
- Ideally experienced with Virtualisation (VMWARE or Hyper-V preferred).
- Cloud Services experience (Desirable, not essential).
- Professional qualifications (Degree/Masters in Computing) or equivalent, demonstrable experience.
- Other specialist IT qualifications (e.g., Aruba, Cisco, HP) or equivalent enterprise-level software/hardware certifications.
