The young Bees picked up their first win since August thanks to goals from Val Adedokun, Charlie Farr and Zanka, in front of 877 fans at Wheatsheaf Park.

Despite going on to win the game in convincing fashion, Brentford had to claw back from going 2-0 down in the first half, after Strasbourg within the opening 15 minutes of the game, found the back of the net thanks to Jeremy Sebas.

Strasbourg doubled their lead shortly after, as Brentford's corner was cleared and a lurking Sebas pounced on a loose ball which saw the forward cooly slot it past Vincent Angelini for his second of the night.

Neil MacFarlane's side dominated the opening 45 minutes, playing most of their football in the French side's half, but the visitors were happy to defend and pick their moments.

However, just before half-time Shandon Baptise had Brentford's best chance of the game for his side as he met Charlie Farr's cross, but his strike came off the post.

At the break, MacFarlane revealed that he told his boys to keep doing what they were doing.

"As I said, we have not done a lot wrong in the game. Stay calm, stay disciplined because towards the end of the first half there was a lot going on.

"We made a little tweak to the system and went 3-4-3 in the second half, and I just asked them to commit even further to the press and in the second half we didn't give them a second, we outran them, and we got moments to get us back in the game," he said.

The "tweaks" were apparent, as Brentford pressed higher up the pitch and created more chances at goal, but Strasbourg nearly spoiled the young Bees' night as Aboubacar Ali went one-on-one with Angelini, but the keeper stood tall and made the save.

In the 60th minute, Brentford's first goal arrived following a Tony Yogane cross landing to Adedokun's feet who smashed it past Waild Hasbi's net to make it 2-1.

Not long after Adedokun's goal, Ali had another chance as he cut in towards the middle and struck it onto the post, which could have put his side 3-1 up.

Having created chances since the whistle first blew, Nathan Young-Coombes reached the ball first before the Strasbourg defender and was brought down in the area by Bradel Kiwa, to give his side a penalty.

Farr comfortably put it away to make it 2-2 for the home team.

With 10 minutes of regular time to go, Romeo Beckham finds himself on the left-wing and with a quick glance, curls the ball into Zanka who slotted it into the Strasbourg net to complete the comeback and make it 3-2, securing the win.

After the game MacFarlane said: "It was an absolutely breathtaking night and I thought some of our football was sensational.

"it's an amazing night for the B team. The project, so many people put such hard work into putting tonight on."

When asked whether the fans gave the players pressure or confidence, the manager hoped it was the former.

He said: "Hopefully pressure. We are trying to develop these players for the longevity of their career, hopefully here at Brentford. It's a terrific venue, it gave everybody a lift."
