Back to back London derby wins for Brentford as record signing, Nathan Collins, seals the comeback for The Bees.
With only 10 minutes of play, Neal Maupay opened the scoring up and ended his 35 game goal draught, with his header past Alphonse Areola.
However, West Ham respond in the 18' thanks to an outrages scissor kick from Mohammed Kudos who met Michail Antonio's cross to fire it past Mark Flekken.
Using that momentum in the 25', Jared Bowen scored his eight goal of the season after Saïd Benrahma's shot hit Kudos and came off the post to fall at the English men's feet.
Video Assistant Referee (VAR) had to check the goal before eventually awarding it, as Bowen was suspected of controlling the ball with his left arm.
West Ham had another opportunity in the first half to extend their lead, coming in the 41' where Bowen found Antonio at the back post, but the centre forward took it away from Benrahma, who could have had a tap in at goal.
Just before half-time, Bryan Mbeumo tried to level things up Brentford as he had a couple of opportunities down the right hand side, curling one effort wide in the 47' and doing the same in the 48'.
Still searching for an equaliser, Brentford got themselves back in it through an own goal from Konstantinos Mavropanos, after Mathias Jensen crossed it into the back post for the Greek defender to try and flick it over, only to put it into his own net in the 55'.
Brentford kept on imposing themselves on the match and West Ham started feel the pressure, only for Collins to rise tallest and head Jensen's cross into the back of the net in the 69'.
West Ham didn't look like getting back into the game, but the east London side's best chance of the second-half came in the 80' from substitute, Pablo Fornals who failed to keep the lay off from Kudos down as it went over the goal.
Thomas Frank's men spoil what could have been David Moyes' 100th win as a West Ham manager.
The Hammers now fall to 11th in the Premier League table with 14 points, while Brentford climb to 9th with 16 - only two points away from Europa Conference League qualification.
Brentford next face Liverpool on Remembrance Sunday, 12 November at 2pm.
