Brentford B were beaten 4-1 by a strong AFC Wimbledon side at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

An experienced Dons side had a 3-0 lead at half-time, but a much improved second half display saw Val Adedokun pull a goal back before the Bees created a number of chances in the second period. Wimbledon got their fourth to seal the game late on.

The young Bees made the short trip to the Sky Bet League Two side looking to build on their 3-3 draw with Burnley Under-21s last time out in the Premier League Cup.

As for the Dons, eight of their starting line-up have featured for Johnnie Jackson's team so far this season.

It was the home side who started brightly as Aaron Sasu went close inside the first few minutes but for a good sliding challenge from Vincent Angelini.

The first goal of the game came on six minutes when Brentford weren't able to clear their lines before the ball was laid into the path of Ryan McLean who finished well to make it 1-0.

Brentford then created a great chance when some clever interplay saw Charlie Farr feed the ball into Benjamin Fredrick who immediately threaded it through to Nathan Young-Coombes, who flicked into the right channel for Isaac Holland.

He then crossed to the far post but it just evaded Adedokun's run at the far post.

Angelini then made a good save from James Ball when his initial effort came off the post before his follow up attempt was saved brilliantly with the right hand of the Brentford keeper.

A tough start then saw Paris Lock make it 2-0 on 16 minutes when a low cross into the box from the left-hand side evaded all players in the box before it nestled into the far corner.

Five minutes before the break it became 3-0 to the hosts as a cross field pass was cut out and Ball was able to drive forwards and slot low past Angelini.

The second half started with a freshness about Brentford despite them not making any changes to the line-up for the second period. They almost pulled a goal back when Ethan Laidlaw found the overlapping run of Adedokun and he crossed low into the box and Holland struck over at the far post.

A chance then came for Nathan Young-Coombes as a well-timed Charlie Farr pass met the run of the young striker, and despite being slightly wide of goal, he managed to get a clean shot away but it edged just wide of goal.

Another chance fell on 69 minutes when an expertly weighted pass from Ethan Brierley from the middle of the pitch matched the run of substitute Max Dickov but he was unable round off the move as he shot wide of the right hand post.

A minute later Brentford got their goal and it came following brilliant cross from Young-Coombes from out on the right as Adedokun managed to side foot volley home at the far post to make it 3-1.

Despite more pushing the Bees were unable to narrow the gap and the Dons then sealed their win with a headed goal from Ed Leach to make it 4-1.
