Chloe Logie steals the show as Brentford Women break Bedfont Sports attendance record
Brentford Women broke the Bedfont Sports Club attendance record as they defeated Richmond Park 4-1 in the L&SEWFL Division One North.
A bumper crowd of 1,124 turned up on Sunday 2nd April, breaking the existing record of 1,010, to witness the Bees move to within a win of top spot with a 4-1 win against local rivals Richmond.
The visitors took the lead through Lauren Hawkley, before Freya Worsley pulled Brentford level and then a fine hat-trick from Chloe Logie saw the hosts take all three points.
Brentford are now just two points behind league leaders Clapham Community in the table with two games in hand, but there is still pressure from behind in the form of Dorking Wanderers Women and Denham United.
Logie could have given the bumper crowd something to cheer about very early on as Sophie Troth slipped her in behind, but Mia Patton did well to stay big and deny her.
Nikki Saunders then could have opened the scoring with a marvellous solo effort when she beat two defenders all ends up out wide, before striding into the box, but she placed her shot just beyond the far post.
After passing up these early chances, Richmond punished Brentford in the 19th minute as Emily Boycott was caught dallying on the ball in her own penalty area, Hawkley pinched the ball off her toes and rolled into an empty net.
It took just four minutes for the Bees to get themselves level as Logie played a well-weighted pass into Worsley who was advancing from midfield and dispatched her shot into the top corner.
Shortly before half-time Logie received the ball just inside the Richmond half and then advanced into the box before calmly slotting the ball beyond Patton to give them the lead.
Three minutes into the second half Logie gave Brentford the lead after Saunders' corner caused havoc in the Richmond goalmouth, before the number nine took control and prodded the ball into the net.
The clinical forward then completed a 13-minute hat-trick as she spotted Patton slightly off her line from out wide and clipped a shot over her and it dipped down into the goal to add her 26th goal of the season.
Richmond looked to try and turn the tide after seeing their lead vanish in an instant and Hawkley caught hold of a volley in the area, only to see Reagen Graver position herself well to nod the ball to safety.
Lilac Jervis took too much time on the ball in her box and Ella Cottrell robbed her and almost squeezed her finish beyond the Richmond goalkeeper, but her shot went just the wrong side of the post and into the side netting.
