A Brentford supporter was arrested at a recent match for allegedly abusing a Manchester City player using racist and homophobic language.

The arrest took place during the game at Brentford Community Stadium on Wednesday, 29 December.

Police investigations are ongoing and the individual has been banned from Brentford matches pending the proceedings.

A Brentford Club spokesperson said: "As a condition of their bail, the individual involved is not permitted to attend any Brentford FC matches until the police investigation is concluded and may be subject to Club sanction pending the outcome of that process.

"Racist or homophobic abuse is completely unacceptable at Brentford FC and those found to have engaged in conduct of this nature will be subject to a significant stadium ban in line with Premier League sanctioning guidance.

"Through our Bee Together campaign we actively encourage behaviour which is consistent with the principles of fairness, respect and tolerance – those who can't accept that are simply not welcome at Brentford."

Fans are encouraged, if they see or hear racist, sexist, homophobic, or other discriminatory behaviour to report what they see or experience to any of the matchday stewards

Brentford FC also offer fans a confidential text service during matches, anyone at Brentford stadium can text "BFC" plus their message (including seat location and as much detail as possible) to 62277.

Alternatively email [email protected] with as much detail as possible.
