New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to restaurants, cafés and canteens in Brentford.

A raft of inspection results have been revealed by the Good Standards Agency, which is responsible for food safety and food hygiene in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, all from the turn of the year.

The agency works with local councils to enforce food safety and businesses handed low ratings of zero or one are compelled to make urgent or major improvements to hygiene standards.

No zero ratings have been dished out in Brentford yet this year. In fact, the lowest rating given in 2022 so far is a very respectable four.

Six eateries were given top marks with ratings of five, including Rye by the Water on Catherine Wheel Road.

School canteens awarded five marks include Sticky Faces nursery, The Little School and Our Lady & St John RC Primary.

While no eateries have been rated below four this year, six venues in Brentford currently have a food hygiene rating of two, and Jenny Café & Kebab on Brentford High Street has a rating of only one.

A total of seven ratings have been handed out to premises with food preparation in January, February and March this year following inspections.

Those receiving the highest rating of five were:

Our Lady & St John RC Primary

Rye by the Water

Sticky Faces

The Little School

Getir UK Limited

Housing 21 Four rating:

Brentford Café and Restaurant
