Brentford: New scam sees fraudsters impersonating Hounslow Council

Hounslow Council has issued an important warning to residents about a new scam localised to the borough.

In the scam, fraudsters make phone calls to residents in which they claim to be from Hounslow Council.

Feigning that their call is regarding the Government's £150 council tax rebate, the fraudsters will ask for bank details.

Hounslow Council will never phone residents and ask for bank details, and have advised residents there is nothing they need to do right now with regards to the rebate.

If you receive a phone call from Hounslow Council, you can ensure it is not a fraudster impersonating the council by:

  1. Asking for their name
  2. Calling the council on its main switchboard number: 020 8583 2000
