Specsavers opened its doors to Brentford High Street yesterday, (30 October) where residents can now book eye and hearing tests.

A ribbon cutting ceremony by the Specsavers Brentford team unveiled the optician's official opening.

Store director and optometrist, Arjun Varma, has been working for Specsavers for nearly eight years and says he is ready to oversee his first branch.

He admitted: "it's been a good level of stress over the past few weeks in preparation for the opening, but I am excited for the challenge."

The store is part of The Brentford Project from developers Ballymore, who intend to make Brentford a new living and retail hub in west London.

"We are looking forward to bringing affordable eye care to the Brentford community," said Arjun.

The optometrist added: "It's a huge development, not just two or three stores. It covers a massive stretch and they (Ballymore) have been working on it for a long period of time now, so it's nice that it is finally coming to fruition.

"it's been a long journey, but we managed to get here in the end."
