Throughout May, Brentford has marked National and Local Community History Month with a range of events, displays and explorations of yesteryear – from the Roman Period at Brentford Lock to Thomas Beach and his prize-winning strawberries.

Celebrations elsewhere may end in May but the same can't be said in Brentford where history buffs and budding historians alike are invited to trip a little further down the town's memory lane.

From June 1, brand new local history exhibitions hosted at libraries across Hounslow will showcase material from the borough's own archives.

Uniquely curated for each library to exhibit the history of its surrounding area, the display that Brentford Library's early visitors see could fast become a thing of the past as memories, stories and photos that residents have been invited to contribute are incorporated into the exhibition.

On June 6, the Local Studies and Archives team will be at Chiswick Library all day to hear the marvellous, myriad stories Hounslow residents have to share and so that any photographs brought along can be scanned for immediate return, then and there.

An additional day will be hosted at Feltham Library on July 4, with the material contributed by residents continuing to evolve the history exhibition at their local library.

The exhibition at Brentford Library will be free to view anytime during opening hours (listed below).
