An inquest into the death of a man from Isleworth has been concluded and his cause of death ruled as suicide.

Shivahar Sirikananathan was hit by a Piccadilly line train at Turnham Green station on 16 November, 2021.

In a witness statement the train driver recalled that on approach into the Chiswick tube station, where the train was not due to stop, Shivahar "sprinted out from behind a wall" and jumped onto the train track, allowing the driver no time to stop.

Despite the efforts of paramedics Shivahar was pronounced dead at the scene.

Described by his family as a 'good-natured' man and keen cricketer who played for a local club, the 41-year-old lived on Great West Road and worked at Kingston Upon Thames Council as an accountant and in an IT support role.

In a statement submitted to West London Coroner's Court, his parents said: "He was good natured and helpful, yet a little reserved as a young man. The tragic accident was a shock to us and our daughter. We had fairly regular contact with him.

"There were no financial or health issues that affected him. We are not aware of any circumstances that caused him any bother. We have no idea what may have triggered him into such a tragic mishap."

Coroner Gemma Brannigan determined Shivahar acted with the intention to end his life and concluded his death was suicide.
