Ruth Cadbury MP is hoping to meet the bosses of Santander to voice concerns over plans to close the Chiswick branch.

The bank is due to close its doors in July after it said most of its customers had switched to online banking.

The closure is part of a wider programme to close more than 100 of its branches across the UK.

The MP said: ''I'm extremely concerned to hear that the Santander Branch on Chiswick High Road is set to close.

"I hope to meet with Santander to discuss this further and to raise the serious impact that this will have on many residents and businesses locally.

"This news comes very soon after the recent announcement that the Barclays Branch in Brentford would also be closing, and I can see from reports in the media that Santander are closing over 100 branches across the country.

"I know that this news will be very worrying and appears to be yet another sign of the huge challenges facing our high streets. I will be raising this wider issue with the Government and will make sure that the concerns of local residents are heard clearly throughout this process.''
