Hounslow Council have announced a new awards event to help celebrate residents, volunteer groups, and businesses who go above and beyond for their communities.

The One Hounslow Community Stars will be an awards show hosted at Hounslow House in July and people can now nominate those who are deserving of recognition.

There are no specific categories of awards, but rather a broad set of themes for their work to fit into to help guide the nominations.

These categories are: community and neighbourhood, green, social enterprise, young leader, and arts and culture.

Council Leader, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, said: "Hounslow has a thriving voluntary and community sector and I'm constantly amazed by its breadth and depth, the quiet army who give up their time and the variety of support provided.

"But One Hounslow Community Stars is also about recognising dutiful neighbours, businesses that give back and environmentally aware residents.

"We cannot do this without the community backing its stars. So please nominate people and organisations you think make a difference."

Winners of the awards will be celebrated at the awards evening and will also be given a trophy and certificate to mark their contribution.

Nominations are open until 2nd June, and this can be done online or via a form in a public library across the borough or in Hounslow House.
