An event in Hounslow tailored to support residents with cost of living challenges has been postponed.
Hounslow Council announced today that the inaugural Cost of Living marketplace which was scheduled to take place tomorrow will no longer go ahead this week on account of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Tributes to The Queen have poured in from around the world while huge crowds continue to gather outside Buckingham Palace to pay their respects to Her Majesty's life of dedicated, dignified service.
The decision taken by Hounslow Council to postpone tomorrow's event was, however, greeted with anger by one Twitter user, who called it "appalling" and "tone deaf".
Many events have been postponed as a mark of respect for the Queen, both locally as well as nationally, with Premier League football games and the second day of the third Test between England and South Africa at the Oval among the re-arranged sporting fixtures.
In its tweet, Hounslow Council confirmed there will be a new date for the event announced shortly.
