A local resident has cautioned dog owners to beware of weed killer being used in Boston Manor Park.

In a message on Brentford's local forum, Robert Ayres said his partner, while in Boston Manor Park this morning (Tuesday, September 13), saw a man spraying the edges of paths.

Mr Ayres wrote: "She asked him what it was he was spraying and [the man] told her weed killer. She said she thought the Council only used salt water to which he replied we are not the Council we are contractors working in the park."

After Mr Ayres' partner pointed out that chemicals in weed killer are dangerous to humans as well as animals, and that Boston Manor Park is used by children and families, she was told the weed killer is not dangerous once it has dried.

It is unclear when the weed killer will dry and in the meantime, local residents are advised to be cautious while in the park.

Mr Ayres said: "Please be careful if you exercise your dog in this park".
