Unusually strong winds in August resulted in tree damage on Brentford Dock.

One of the large Black Poplars plunged into the Thames causing a potential hazard to boats on the river at the point where barges enter the dock.

Brentford Dock management has been in consultation with the Port of London Authority and the Environment Agency who arranged for the tree to be removed.

A survey of other trees on the riverside and pathways has been completed. Brentford Dock said: "We are pleased to report that all is stable and works to remove the remaining stump and repair the bank and railings can be carried out in due course."

Several other trees have been assessed by consultants and the dock will begin its winter tree inspection over the coming weeks.
