Hounslow Council is inviting local communities to have their say on the main shopping and leisure areas in the borough.
The consultation aims to reimagine the area to find opportunities for boosting domestic tourism, improve local facilities, support local businesses and provide more housing.
The survey will also look to find ways to combating climate change and produce a sustainable transport network.
Brentford Nub News stepped out onto the high street this week to ask local people what they want to see in the town centre.
Michael Allison,37, said: "We are crying out for good independent shops like a butcher, and a proper gents' barber shop. The nearest barber is in Northfields which is a bus ride away."
Kelly Brightside,24, a mother of two, said: "We need a central community centre that provides activities for young people. There's very little in Brentford for teenagers."
John Masters, 78, who has lived in Brentford for 50 years, said: "The whole high street used to be full of shops on both sides but in the 70s and 80s, the town seemed to go to pot. It's all nail bars and cheap shops at the moment. I'd like to see more independent shops like there used to be. It used to be such a wonderful high street."
Rosa Bennett,51, who works as a carer in the town, said: "I can tell you what I don't want to see. I don't want to see more gastro pubs, we need some good traditional pubs. I also don't want to see more flats, the ones that are being built will be too expensive for ordinary Brentford folk to afford and it will just drive out local people."
David Phillips,18, said: "More stuff for young people and more open spaces to hang out in. There are some good parks already, but they need something closer to the centre."
