Creative People and Places Hounslow are launching their new community recipe book showcasing dishes submitted by residents on Saturday 29th January.
55 Dishes for Hounslow collects a variety of delicious recipes submitted by people across the borough, such as Magalicious Minty Chicken, Szarlotka (Polish Apple Pie) and Pauline's Quick Macaroni Cheese Pie, reflecting and celebrating Hounslow's diversity.
The book will be launched at Hounslow Arts Centre in the Treaty Centre, the event will be free to attend and is not ticketed, copies of the book will be available to buy for £10.
All proceeds from sales of the book will be donated to projects working to eradicate food poverty in the borough, Hounslow Community Foodbox, Muslim Hands' Open Kitchen, and The Good Shepherd Food Project.
Mary P O'Shea, member of the Hounslow Local Advisory Group said: "55 Dishes for Hounslow is a really beautifully made book, celebrating the diversity of the borough. The range of foods are eclectic, vibrant and colourful – just like Hounslow".
The book was funded by Creative People & Places Hounslow and London Borough of Council's Summer of Culture programme and supported by the team behind 101 Dishes for the Emperor, a children's book sharing the important message of how sharing recipes can bring people together.
Creative People & Places Hounslow works with local people in Hounslow to programme a range of creative opportunities in Feltham, Central Hounslow, Heston, Cranford and Brentford from outdoor performances to small exhibitions in local cafes.
They work to make Hounslow a confident, colourful and creative borough – a place where creativity thrives and everyone has the chance to take part.
