Covid-19 cases surge by over 100% in Hounslow Borough

There are over 1,700 more infections of Covid-19 than a week ago in Hounslow.
According to the latest statistics (December 14 - December 21), there were 3,330 reported cases of the virus within Hounslow Borough in the last seven days – 1,714 more than the week leading up to December 14.
This means there has been a 106.1% increase in cases, with a rate of 1,055.7 per 100,000 population according to the Gov.uk website.
This is a significantly higher infection rate than both England and the United Kingdom, which are at 862.1 and 832.4 out of 100,000 people.
However, it is still lower than the current London rate, at 1,609, as the capital experiences a steep rise in cases compared to the rest of the country.
Brentford has a high rate of cases in the borough, with a 183.3% seven day increase in Brentford West & Osterley Park, according to the latest ward-specific data for the seven days (10 -17 December).
Brentford Central experienced a 162.7% weekly increase in cases, with 134 total cases.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Healthcare Trust have experienced a 63% increase in patients admitted due to Covid in the last seven days, although there have been no recorded Covid deaths in the borough in the last week.
Vaccinations in Hounslow
- 6% of Brentford Central have had their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 66.6% their second.
Similar statistics in Brentford West & Osterley Park with 73% having their first dose and 66.8% their second.
Brentford East trails behind slightly with 69.7% having their first dose and 63% their second.
However neighbouring Hounslow High Street has recorded the lowest uptake in the borough with 62.7% having a first dose.
