BRENTFORD VOICES: Do you enjoy working from home during Covid crisis?

Nearly nine out of 10 workers want to be able to choose whether to work from home or the office once Covid-19 workplace restrictions ease, and have greater autonomy over their hours, according to research from Cisco Systems.

The government announced on Thursday that Brentford is going into Tier 2 lockdown as the spread of the virus continues across the capital.

It means working from home is set to continue for some time. But how are you finding working away from the office and do you want to continue after the virus is eradicated?

Brentford Nub News took to the high street to ask you.

Caroline Graham, a Content Producer at Barclays, said: "I usually commute from Brentford to Canary Wharf. I do not miss the commute. I had to get to Waterloo, usually on a packed train, change there and get the Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf. I'm saving both time and money."

Derrick Brown, who works at London Bridge, said: "I'm an account director and I've always been able to work from home. I've been out of the office since April. I miss colleagues but I don't miss commuting. I think what will happen in the future is people will work mainly from home and maybe go into the office once or twice a week for catch-ups. "

Michael Clements, who works in Oxford Street, said: "Most of my work I can do on my laptop but I do find I feel quite lethargic because there's no urgency in the mornings to get up and get going to work. But I am saving a lot of money – almost £300 a month which is better than a pay rise!"

Tania Caine, a contract worker, who used to commute to Croydon, said: "I usually go to the Brentford Project coffee bar first thing in the mornings and work there for an hour. It just gets me out of my apartment and gives a structure to the day. Being stuck at home was driving me mad but now I've got used to it and I make sure I get out and about and go to a different coffee shop each day to work."
