The local community on Saturday (October 1) took part in South Western Railway's Big Bulb Plantout.

A scheme to plant pubs along the length of the South Western railway line, Brentford residents planted 200 daffodil bulbs, 200 tulips and 200 crocus bulbs across two containers on Brentford station platform, as well as in six containers outside the station - five on the north side and one on the south side.

Air Quality Brentford, a group of local residents who work to effect positive change to the air quality in Brentford, shared pictures of the day, the fruits of which we will all enjoy come spring 2023 when the bulbs bloom.

They wrote: "Making the most of the sunny Saturday, ahead of a predicted Sunday of torrential rain (which didn't transpire) we took part in South Western Railway's Big Bulb Plantout, to plant bulbs along the length of their railway.

"We also tidied up the slope opposite The Kings Arms and added more bulbs there. Thanks very much to South Western Railways for the bulbs, and to the lovely neighbours and residents who came together at short notice to do the planting.

"It was an enjoyable few hours and we look forward to seeing the flowers appear in the Spring."
