Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Green Dragon Lane in Brentford.
A small part of an eleventh floor flat in a 21 storey building was damaged by fire. Occupants of a neighbouring flat called 999 after hearing a smoke alarm that had activated within the flat. Thankfully no injuries are reported.
Fire investigators believe the cause of the fire was accidental and due to a lit candle left unattended in the flat Friday, 19 January.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Keep candles well away from any objects that can catch fire and away from pets and children.
"Consider using battery-powered, flameless LED candles instead, which are safe even if you fall asleep. Whilst they may cost more upfront than traditional candles, they will last considerably longer, giving you better value for money.
"If you do choose to use traditional candles ensure you place them in a heat-resistant holder, on a stable surface where they won't be knocked over and away from materials that could catch fire. Never leave them unattended around your home, take particular care with children and pets and blow them out properly before you go to bed.
"The Brigade's online Home Fire Safety Checker can guide you around your home and provide you with specific advice to reduce fire risks."
The Brigade was called at 9:26pm and the incident was under control by 10pm. Fire crews from Richmond, Heston, Southall and Fulham fire stations were in attendance.
