Cluck Yeah is a chicken shop that is celebrating its first anniversary, having opened in November 2019.

The shop is located across the street from the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre and is one of the few businesses that has benefited from the coronavirus pandemic.

Owner Shane Fernando, 24 told Nub News: "During full lockdown we were crazy busy because people couldn't go out to restaurants and eat, they were only allowed to do takeaways.

"There was less competition out there and that worked in our favour, we were constantly swamped."

With many hospitality businesses suffering due to the pandemic, Fernando has had such a successful year that he's planning to expand the brand to Battersea as well.

"We should be opening the shop in Battersea quite soon, although that one will be delivery only," he added.

The 24-year-old believes that he's found a gap in the market for high quality chicken, with most chicken shops having a reputation for being cheap and greasy.

"We are in the mid market range and people seem to love it, the food is high quality but also very affordable, on average a meal would cost around £7.50."

Following with the vegan trend, the menu also offers vegetarian and vegan options as well, in order to cater to everyone.

"Believe it or not, although we're a chicken shop, the vegan burger sells really well," he added.

Once football fans are allowed back into stadiums, Fernando believes that will drive up revenue for his shop by up to a quarter on match days.

He said: "We're doing fantastic as is, but with the new Brentford stadium being so close to us, I honestly think that we won't have time to breathe on match days."

During its first year Cluck Yeah has done so well that Fernando has even received offers to franchise it.

The Accounting and Finance graduate from Durham University said: "It's definitely something I would consider down the line, but I'd need to open a few more shops before I allow people to franchise it."
