A food blogger based in Isleworth is trying to feed as many people in the local area in the space of two weeks.
Sophie Mann, 25, runs her own food blog called Mann's Got Munch, which she is now using to feed families in Isleworth, Brentford and Hounslow for free.
Mann has been running the blog for four years now, but decided to reboot it last year.
One of her plans following the reboot was to set up a pop up restaurant so that people who couldn't afford to go to restaurants, could enjoy a night out free of charge.
Unfortunately because of the coronavirus pandemic, those plans have been put on hold, with the recipe writer – which she prefers to food blogger – now finding another way to help those less fortunate.
Mann, who works as an assistant producer in television, has been working from home since March and has been spending considerably more time cooking.
She told Nub News: "I was someone who benefited from government assistance when I was at school, so now it's only right that I give something back to those who need it."
With the help of local food charity Surplus to Supper, she has so far fed 80 people in the space of three days alone.
"Every morning I go and collect food from Surplus to Supper, which I then cook in the evenings after I finish work," she added.
Following the recent parliamentary vote not to extend free school meals to children during the half term, many councils and local businesses have taken it upon themselves to help feed as many people as they can.
"Surplus to Supper are the real heroes," Mann said.
"I'm only doing this for two weeks, they've been feeding people for years."
The 25-year-old prepares savoury and sweet tray bakes every evening for families of up to six people.
"We try and get people to come and collect, but many of the people in need are those that can't afford a car, so my lovely friends and family have been delivering the food.
"I do all the cooking myself and I try to serve anyone who's contacted me, but sometimes it's impossible to drive hours away to deliver food, so we're trying to keep it as local as possible to Isleworth, Brentford and Hounslow."
Mann will be offering free dinners until Sunday November 8 and anyone who wants to get in touch for themselves or on behalf of another can email her on [email protected].
