Proposals to build six flats on Hounslow Road have been refused by the council for the eighth time.

The first planning application submitted to build on 6-8 Hounslow Road first came back in February 2000 for similar plans. To build six flats.

Hounslow Council refused the application for several reasons:

  • The building proposal does not prove it maximises environmental performance. Without a legal agreement for Carbon Offset Contribution, it goes against various policies related to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy infrastructure, and managing heat risk.
  • Due to its design, mass, and scale, the proposal doesn't fit the character of the surrounding area. This goes against policies promoting high-quality design at both national and local levels.
  • The proposal does not show that the deep floor plans would get enough natural light, and without a roof space section, it doesn't ensure sufficient headspace and usable floor areas. This would negatively impact the living conditions for future occupants, contrary to design, inclusivity, and housing quality policies.
  • The plans lack proper on-site cycle parking access and does not demonstrate the practical suitability of the basement bin store, violating policies related to cycle parking at both London and local levels.
  • The application does not prove it would not have a negative impact on highways and would not lead to excessive parking stress in the surrounding roads, contrary to the local plan policy on traffic and parking.

If approved, the plans would have saw a two-storey building with one 3-bedroom flat, three 2-bedroom flats, one 1-bedroom flat and one studio flat with amenity space and cycle parking.
