A waterside strategy is being developed for Brentford that is looking into the possibility of a bridge from Ferry Quays to the Kew side of the Thames.
A Community Identity Survey, carried out by Brentford Voice in November 2020, revealed that the waterside is by far the single most important "cultural cornerstone" for the community.
The Brentford Waterside Strategy aims to build a publicly accessible, well designed and connected riverside that enhances Brentford's established character as a historic waterway town - a place to live, work and visit.
Brentford Voice said: "The Strategy will identify potential improvements to public waterside access.
"This will include uninterrupted access from Kew Bridge to Ferry Lane, improvements to viewing facilities at Ferry Point, and the development of a waterside strategy within the Ballymore development.
"We are also investigating the feasibility of building a pedestrian and cycle bridge from The Ham to Syon Park, and we hope that at some point it will be possible to build the Brentford Gate pedestrian and cycle bridge from Ferry Quays to the Kew side of the Thames.
"Important parts of our Strategy will be to improve wayfinding and to provide interpretive information on Brentford's rich culture and history.
"We will also support our local community of artists and organise an annual Canal Festival."
