Karleigh Osborne was disappointed that Brentford Women failed to show what they were capable of as they crashed out of the L&SEWFL League Cup against Sutton United Women.

Brentford exited the League cup after a second half brace from Lily Dent put Sutton in the driving seat before Chloe Webb scored a late consolation.

Osborne thought that Brentford made a game of things after the break, but fell below the standards they had set in the first half.

He said: "It was a game of two halves, first half I thought we were poor and not to our usual standards, so that was disappointing.

"The intensity was low, we weren't good enough on the ball, we were just not good enough all round in the first half.

"Second half we had a bit of a fight and we created a lot of chances, we just didn't take them and it was just a much better performance.

"But overall, it was just disappointing as we didn't show what we are capable of.

"I just think we weren't at the races today and that is disappointing because I know how good the group is, but the good thing about it is that is has not been too many times that we have done that this year.

"I knew it would be a tough challenge, but I just expected more from us, those things happen, you can't always be at 100%, you won't always get it right."

Osborne hopes that his squad will use this defeat as a springboard to improve standards and ensure that they get the details right when it matters in the league.

He said: "The players have been fantastic this year and of course I am disappointed that we have lost, of course I am disappointed we didn't perform to the best of our ability, but at the end of the day it is about the league.

"That is what we are focused on and we need to make sure that we turn up and perform in those games.

"We just need to dust ourselves down and go again, remember that we are still a good team and we are still fantastic players and we are still in a good place coming towards the end of the season.

"In general, we have been pretty good this season and I think it was one of those days where we weren't really at it and it has cost us a bit and we switched off in a couple of moments and it has cost us.

"We have got to be committed in both boxes and all the way through the pitch and in every minute of the game.

"If we are going to say what we want to do, then we need to bounce back, good teams put things right the week after."
