Lily Dent scored a brace as Brentford Women bow out of the League Cup against L&SEWFL Premier Division outfit Sutton United Women.
Emily Boycott did very well to keep the game level at the break as she produced a string of saves as Sutton showed their quality to suffocate the Bees.
Dent then broke the deadlock early in the second half and then got another just over ten minutes from time to kill the game off, before Chloe Webb scored a late consolation.
Defeat sends Brentford out of the L&SEWFL League Cup at the third-round stage and they can now concentrate of attempting to gain promotion this season.
This game was a slow burner, with no real efforts until just before the half hour mark as Darcey Wells drove towards the edge of the penalty area and let fly, but sent her shot straight at Boycott.
This woke Sutton up and shortly after Wells found Dent in the middle and she diverted the ball on target, but Boycott stayed big and made the same from close range.
Boycott's heroics continued as a corner for the U's found Eloise Williams on the edge of the six-yard box and once again the Brentford goalkeeper had to make a stunning save to keep the game level going into the break.
Despite this, just four minutes into the second half Sutton had the breakthrough as Gabby Howell slid a pass through the middle of the Bees' back line and saw Dent through on goal and she coolly finished beyond Boycott.
Brentford did then threaten as Nikki Saunders whipped in a corner and found Regan Graver at the far post and her header skimmed the top of the bar as it went over.
There was another chance for the Bees to restore parity as Chloe Logie went through on the 'keeper, her initial effort was well saved and diverted into the path of Sophie Troth, but she couldn't keep her follow-up on target.
With 13 minutes remaining Dent put the game out of reach for Brentford when she was on hand to roll the ball into an unguarded net following a goalmouth scramble.
Two minutes later it could have been worse when Sutton were awarded a penalty after Dent was chopped down in the area, but Wells struck the base of the post from the resulting spot kick.
Then Brentford halved the deficit five minutes from time when Webb sent in a cross towards the back post, which looped over Zoe McNulty and into the far corner of the net.
However, this did not spark an unlikely comeback and Sutton held on to progress to the next stage.
