Demi Edwards said that she was delighted to be able to end her drought and score her first goal for Brentford Women against Actonians Reserves.

Edwards opened the scoring at Gunnersbury Park as the Bees progressed to the next round of the County Cup with a 2-0 as Kirsty Matthews notched the second.

The 28-year-old scored a fabulous goal from outside the area to open her account for the club and said she thoroughly enjoyed the feeling.

Speaking to club media, she said: "It was a great feeling, especially as it was my first goal for the club.

"I was becoming slightly frustrated prior to today because I wanted to get on the score sheet so badly, so I was delighted when I saw the ball go into the back of the net.

"Despite it not being our best performance, we did enough to get the win and that is all that matters.

"In the second half we got the ball down and started creating chances and I thought we played well then.

"I always want to be named in the starting 11 if possible and I feel my recent form has shown this.

"I understand we have a strong team and there's lots of competition for places so I will continue to work as hard as possible to impress the manager but overall, as long as the team is winning, I'm happy."
