Named in The Guardians' '60 best young talents of world football born in 2006' last year, Yunus Emre Konak signed with the Bees earlier this month until 2029 with an option to extend.

But who is the 18-year-old Turkish midfielder? Brentford Nub News reached out to Süper Lig and Turkish football expert, Emre Sarigul, to find out.

What type of player is he?

Yunus Emre Konak is a no 6, a hard working tenacious central midfielder who is not after to close down and get stuck in defensively but also has a wide passing range and an impressive ability to read the game.

At Sivasspor he was central to the functioning of the team playing a key role linking defence with attack and keeping possession. It is rare to see a player so mature at such a young age playing in his position.

Is this a perfect destination for Konak as Thomas Frank likes to give opportunities to young players who deserve it and with the number of injuries the squad currently has?

Yunus is used to earning his place, he was playing in the amateur league in his home city of Batman this time last year. He joined a Sivasspor side that has been investing in youth in March.

After excelling in the youth league he was fast tracked to the first team over the summer where he became a star name.

I think Konak has moved to the right place, a manager in Thomas Frank who will give youth players the chance if they work for it.

With players such as Vitaly Janelt, Christian Norgaard, Mathias Jensen, Josh Dasilva and more in the midfield. Where do you think Konak will fit?

I think Yunus will need some time to adapt to Premier League football, settle in, learn the language and adjust but he is a hard worker and has the right mentality.

Once he settles in and proves himself in training I think he will prove his talent in his strongest position in central midfield.

If you had to compare him to another player for reference, who would it be?

It is difficult to make comparisons as every player has their own style but if I were to go out on a limb I would say there are some similarities in the role he plays with N'Golo Kante.

Last year, Konak was named as one of 'the 60 best young talents of world football born in 2006' by the Guardian. How did he go under the radar of other top clubs in Europe?

Outside of the big four clubs in Turkey most clubs are not well scouted, Yunus was playing at Sivasspor which is off the beaten track in central Anatolia.

There has been a shift in focus in Turkish football towards youth development and Sivas is one of the centres of this movement.

Brentford moved early and have first movers advantage. I think we will see more players from clubs outside the major ones get snapped up over the next few seasons. There is a lot of untapped, undervalued talent emerging in the country.

Konak is just 18-years-old and is heading to one of the best leagues in the world. Is a move to England too soon or at just the right moment?

Yunus was a key player at Sivasspor, it would be unfair to call him a talent - he is more than that. He is a player that has proved himself in the Turkish top-tier who happens to be just 18-years-old.

He was signed because Brentford saw something special and I think he will surprise many by breaking into the team and showcasing his ability.
