London Irish have been given an extended deadline to complete a takeover to allow them to remain in the Gallagher Premiership next season.

The Premiership had given the Brentford-based club until Tuesday 30th May to complete the sale to an American consortium in order to avoid a suspension from the top division of English rugby next season.

If this takeover falls through then London Irish would become the third team in the Premiership this season to be forced to drop out, following on from Wasps and Worcester.

However, CityAM journalist Matty Hardy has reported that contrary to these reports, London Irish have not yet been given the extension and stressed that it will all depend upon Crossan being able to play the wages for May.
