Brentford B team's promising goalkeeper, Ben Winterbottom, has officially extended his contract with the club until 2025, with option of an extra year.

The news comes as Winterbottom, who joined the club in January 2021 after transferring from Liverpool, has established himself as a key figure both within Brentford's youth ranks and as a regular presence alongside manager Thomas Frank's first-team squad.

Since his arrival at Brentford, Winterbottom has demonstrated remarkable growth, racking up an impressive 43 appearances for the young Bees.

Notably, he has not only honed his skills within the B team but has also taken part in training sessions with the senior squad.

His commitment and progress were underlined when he was invited to accompany the first team on their mid-season training camp in Spain during the previous season.

For the current campaign, Winterbottom found himself on loan at Welling United, competing in the National League South.

In this new setting, the goalkeeper has made 11 appearances and impressively secured two clean sheets.

Phil Giles, the Director of Football at Brentford, expressed his satisfaction with Winterbottom's contract extension.

He stated: "Ben has done very well for us since he joined us, so I'm pleased that he's agreed to stay with us longer and continue his development. Even though he has yet to make his first-team debut, it's important to note that he plays an important role around the first team on a daily basis.

"He will remain with Welling until January and then we can decide with Ben the next steps of his career."
