Brentford Women players talk about women's sport ahead of International Women's Day
Players from the Brentford Women team spoke to Hounslow Council about women's sport ahead of International Women's Day.
International Women's Day is on Wednesday 8th March and is celebrated globally to bring attention to issues like gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
To help mark it this year, Hounslow Council will be hosting an event at Hounslow House with a series of talks and discussions from influential women in the borough.
The Captain of Brentford Women, Mollie Holmes, said in a video on Hounslow Council's Twitter: "International Women's Day is crucial for us, for me personally I started here at 17 and the growth of the game has been phenomenal.
"It is a great opportunity now for the girls and women coming in, it is a great atmosphere and there is no judgement and we feel like we are heard and counted.
"I was there are the Euros Final, and that was just pivotal, to sit there and see 90,000 people all cheering on those inspirational people.
"Even at our level, all we want to do is inspire that next generation.
"It is inspirational as when I play, I feel proud to represent this team and this club and I honestly think that without the Lionesses we would be where we are.
"But it shows that the men's teams are now finally backing the women's teams across the country to get the sport where it deserves to be."
