Work has officially started in Brentford High Street, which will see 96 new Council homes built as one phase of the Ballymore regeneration project.

To mark construction starting on site at the development, the Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Steve Curran attended a 'ground-breaking' event with developers, Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd.

Syon Ward Councillor and Cabinet Member for Communities and Climate Emergency, Councillor Katherine Dunne also attended the event.

This development is one phase of the regeneration of Brentford High Street which covers over 11 acres.

Overall, the Ballymore development will include up to 800 new homes, as well as retail and office space.

Leader of Hounslow Council Cllr Steve Curran said the Council have worked with Willmott Dixon to ensure the homes are "high-quality, energy efficient to meet the needs of our residents."

Cllr Curran said: "This is another great day for Hounslow but most importantly our residents.

"Delivering 96 new Council homes to help meet the increasing demand for council housing in the borough.

"The properties will include a range of 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes to meet the varying needs of residents on our housing waiting list, with ten of the 96 homes designed to be wheelchair accessible."

The development, due for completion by summer 2023, will also include landscaped communal gardens, 12 retail units and car parking spaces.

According to the Council, the homes will be 100% electric with an Air Source Heat Pump system that will provide residents with hot water and heating.

Hounslow have pledged to deliver 1,000 new Council homes by May 2022.
