Contractors Willmott Dixon announced being selected by the London Borough of Hounslow for the £38 million Brentford High Street housing scheme at the start of this month.
Work has officially started on the Block D housing project, which will create 96 affordable homes and a commercial space on the site.
The Block D development involves the creation of three blocks ranging from six to eight stories, with the 96 new council rented homes arranged in a mix of one, two, three and four bed apartments, including ten homes designed to be wheelchair accessible.
The project, which will be complete in summer 2023, includes landscaped communal gardens, 12 retail units and car parking spaces.
The homes are set to be 100% electric, with an Air Source Heat Pump system that will provide residents with hot water and heating.
The deal to deliver the Block D development follows a series of residential projects by Willmott Dixon for Hounslow, also currently building 102 new homes at Frank Towell Court, Feltham.
In 2019, the company also handed over Bristol Court, a £26m retirement living scheme which provided 94 new homes.
Matt Kemp, senior operations manager at Willmott Dixon said: "We are delighted to be again working in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow to create more essential housing and important commercial space.
"Through our network of local supply chain partners, we will be supporting the Hounslow pound alongside delivering much needed places to live."
Project D is part of Hounslow's commitment to build 1,000 new Council homes to meet an increasing demand for social housing within the borough.
