Fancy watching a movie from the comfort of your own home during lockdown?
Watermans has been running an online cinema club No Ticket Required since early in the last lockdown.
The Brentford arts and culture centre is recommending the following movies for the next week:
The Double Life of Veronique (15)
Curzon Home Cinema. £3.99.Watermans paid tribute recently to the Polish-born Paris based film director Krzsztof Kieslowski, and this is an earlier excellent film of his, that has an ethereal beauty that was quite unique.
Breaking the Waves
Curzon Home Cinema. £3.99.This is the English language film that introduced the world to the now notorious director Lars Von Trier. A superb study in belief, or lack of it in faith, as a driving force to affect human nature. Emily Watson is outstanding as the tormented wife who will go to extreme lengths to try and cure her disabled husband.
Journey's End
BBC iPlayer. Free.Starring the cream of young British actors, this was a popular film at Watermans when released three years ago. At this time of year, it is a sobering reminder of the horrors of trench warfare in WW1.
