Officials are exploring the possibility of providing skatepark facilities for Brentford enthusiasts.

The idea of a skatepark comes after a petition started by a local resident to provide such a facility.

Skaters are known to have been making use of the Ballymore car park near Dock Road.

The developer has since installed security at the site.

Councillor Guy Lambert has been exploring possible options for a skatepark.

He told Brentford Nub News: "The skatepark comes out of a petition started by a local resident and we have been casting around for where we might provide one.

"It doesn't really arise from concerns about impromptu skateparks – in Market Place but also I believe in the dreaded multi-storey car park – though the lack of facilities locally mean people who want to skate have to improvise or go to (for example) Acton Park.

"There is an existing facility in Thornbury Park – not in Brentford but not far - but we're told it is very poor so there's some thought of investing in improvement there.

"There is also a slightly longer term prospect of creating something in Gunnersbury Park which is being considered as the park develops it's updated Master Plan."
