Coronavirus testing centres where residents without symptoms can receive quick test results are opening in Hounslow.
The venues, Heston Library and Hounslow House, are the first two sites to open to the community.
Residents such as key workers can book a free rapid lateral flow test and get their results back in 30-40 minutes.
It comes as a way to help control the spread of the virus in the borough. The weekly rate in Hounslow has now surpassed 1,000 cases per 100,000 of the population, according to the latest government data published on January 5.
It is believed one in three people with coronavirus have no symptoms.
Hounslow Council leader Steve Curran said: "Even if you do not have symptoms, you could still have Covid-19 and be passing on the virus.
"If you don't have any Covid-19 symptoms, book your rapid test online. This will help to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
"But, even with a negative test result, we must all still remember the basics such as 'Hands, Face, Space' to keep one another safe."
The first two sites opened on Tuesday, while a further three centres are expected to open from next week and stay open for around six weeks.
The testing hubs will be open for pre-booked appointments from 8am to 4pm every day of the week.
Residents will receive their results via email or text after they take a test.
