A massive police operation to reduce gang crime in Hounslow and across west London resulted in 27 arrests and the seizure of drugs worth £30,000.

'Operation Beacon' was conducted over March 4 and 5 and included officers from the Met's specialist gangs unit, Territorial Support Group and firearms unit.

The operation saw £10,000 in cash seized as well as £30,000 worth of Class A drugs, including 600 ecstasy tablets, crack cocaine and heroin.

Several arrests were made for possession and intent to supply.

Acting Detective Inspector Sarah Herson said: "This incredibly successful collaboration has resulted in the arrests of 27 high-harm and dangerous offenders."

"We will continue to break down intelligence barriers who use transport networks and local estates to commit violent crime, enable drug supply and target our most vulnerable."
