A planning application has been put forward to convert a riverside office space into five flats in Isleworth, west London.

The conversion would be to Holland House, a Georgian period building on Church Street, which is currently a four floor office space.

Construction company, Concept Bespoke, want to demolish the inside walls to create three, two bedroom flats and two, one bedroom flats.

The plans also include new cycle stands but parking spaces would remain the same with six parking spaces to be allocated to flats with an extra visitor space.

Holland House was marketed by Vokins Chartered Surveyors in 2021, to try and find a buyer for the office space.

Since then it has been unable to do so with the Hounslow based company noting Old Isleworth's remoteness and distance from public transport as some of the reasons why.

Vokins Chartered Surveyors said: "It became an increasingly difficult task as time progressed, as the poor PTAL rating became more and more problematic for companies who started to become more environmentally conscious, developing green travel plans, wishing to access work utilising public transport as opposed to by car.

"Even with office rents at half the level payable in Richmond, we were losing occupiers from Old Isleworth, who wanted amenity, public transport accessibility and clustering in order to attract and retain staff, which Old Isleworth was unable to offer."

This is why Vokins Chartered Surveyors has recommended that Concept Bespoke put forward the planning application to change the use of the site at Holland House.

The surveyors add: "We cannot therefore see that continued marketing of this property for employment generating or community-based purposes has any merit.

"It is for the reasons set out herein therefore that we consider the owners have little choice but to pursue a change of use planning application to C3 residential purposes.

"C3 residential purposes could assist the viability of other businesses in South Street, Old Isleworth, as additional people will be living in the locality requiring use of services within walking distance."

As Holland House is a Grade II listed building with 'special interest', Concept Bespoke plans to make no alterations to the site exterior, the staircase from the ground to first floor and the original chimney stacks.
