A proposal to block public access to the Thames from Brentford Dock will be considered by the planning committee tonight (Thursday).

The dock is a private estate built in the 1970s and includes a number of homes that back onto the Thames.

Brentford Dock have been concerned that people who do not live on the dock use it to access the river.

Residents living on the estate pay for the grounds to be maintained and kept clean.

Since lockdown more people from all over Brentford have been using the dock for walks along the river.

Residents have complained of an increase in litter, particularly during summer months.

The proposal would involve erecting gates or fences at several points of access to the river which could only be opened by people living on the estate.
