A Brentford-based organisation has arranged a cycling 'Peace Ride' this Saturday to promote world peace and support the covid crisis in India.

Starting at the Indian Gymkhana centre in Osterley, the group will wheel through Brentford, then along Chiswick High Road all the way into central London, and eventually to Tavistock Square.

It is happening on Saturday 2 October which is Gandhi Jayanti, an event celebrated in India to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

The child friendly ride was organised by the Soham Foundation, based in Brentford, an organisation created in response to the covid pandemic in India, by Indian diaspora in Hounslow.

Participants will join the Peace Rally taking place in the City, before heading back to complete the 40 km round trip.

The trip hopes to raise money to support those orphaned by covid-19 in India.

Soham Foundation founder, Nimit Shishodia will be participating in the race along with his 10-year-old son, who is planning to cover 25 miles on the day.

Nimit organised and participated along with 13 others, in a 100 km "Ride to Breathe" cycling challenge back in May.

According to Nimit, the ride raised money to buy oxygen concentrators and others supplies, donated directly to charities operating on the ground in India

The route covered the Indian Temples on the outer London circle, also touching the Hyde Park to Tower Bridge belt.

Day Plan for Saturday's 'Peace Ride':

9.00 AM - First Meeting Point at Indian Gymkhana.

9.20 - Second Meeting Point at Gunnersbury Station.

  1. 35 - Third Meeting Point at Hammersmith Station.

9:50 - Fourth Meeting Point at Hyde Park.

  1. 00 - Fifth Meeting Point at Parliament Square, Join the Peace Rally.

10:30 - Finish Peace Rally at Tavistock Square and return.

So look out for the riders this Saturday (2 October).

Nimit is also hoping to organise a Christmas festival in Brentford later this year. Updates to come.
