A NEW app has launched with the aim of rewarding Brentford residents and those throughout the borough, for keeping fit and healthy.
Hounslow Council has partnered with BetterPoints to encourage residents to go for a walk, a cycle, or a run.
By doing these things, residents will earn points which can then be spent at local businesses and Council owned leisure centres or donated to local charities.
The app will also keep residents up to date on ways to earn more rewards through community initiatives such as walking groups and litter picking.
Cllr Candice Atterton, Cabinet Member for Adults, Social Care and Health, said: "Research shows that over 67,000 people aged over 16 who live in our borough do less than 30 minutes of exercise each week when the recommended level is 150 minutes a week.
"For most people, getting more active by walking, cycling or running can be a safe and enjoyable way to look after their physical and mental wellbeing and so we actively encourage this.
"We know that physical activity boosts self-esteem, mood, sleep and gives you more energy.
"The BetterPoints app is the ideal opportunity for people to get active in the sunshine after being inside our homes for months this winter."
All you have to do is download the BetterPoints app from the App Store or Google Play store and register your details.
