A man has been jailed for spitting at emergency workers at West Middlesex Hospital.

Bromley Magistrates' Court heard police were called to the Isleworth hospital by the London Ambulance service to assist with a man on October 19 last year.

Officers discovered that Wayne Dillion 52, of no fixed abode, was wanted by the courts and issued a warrant before arresting him.

As they checked his personal property, Dillion, who pleaded not guilty to four counts of assault, turned aggressive and spat at the officers.

He was arrested for assault on emergency workers and jailed for 23 weeks.

Case officer PC Alan Boyle said: "This prosecution reassures all our staff and colleagues in the emergency services that we will prosecute all offenders who consider spitting at others as acceptable."
