A man has been fined over £4,000 after being caught fly-tipping by Hounslow Council's Neighbourhood Enforcement Team.

Mr Crawt has been fined £4,181 and ordered to do 250 hours of unpaid community service at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on 10th February after he was caught fly-tipping from a vehicle on Church Road in Hounslow.

Hounslow Council's Neighbourhood Enforcement Team used CCTV to find Mr Crawt fly-tipping and then officers from the service used the vehicle registration to trace his details through the council's partnership with the DVLA.

Councillor Guy Lambert, Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Operational Services, said: "Fly-tipping is a serious offence, and we are very pleased with the Court's decision. I hope this acts as a deterrent to others that we will not tolerate fly tipping under any circumstances.

"Fly-tipping is not only a blight on our streets, but we spend over £1.3 million every year clearing up waste that has been dumped illegally.

"Our teams work tirelessly throughout the year to combat incidents of fly tipping every year and we hate it as much as residents do. It poses a risk to the environment, animals and public health.

"I would urge everyone to report fly tipping and help us make Hounslow a cleaner borough."

From April to December 2022 there were 14,000 fly-tipping incidents reported to Hounslow Highways, a reduction of 23% from the previous year.

Hounslow Council are targeting a 25%n reduction in fly-tipping and are looking to do this through a combination of enforcement, education, providing facilities to residents and enforcement by multiple Council services and providers.

Residents can report any fly-tipping they encounter via the FixMyStreet mobile app or by visiting www.hounslow.gov.uk/report. Alternatively for any fly tipping on our streets, you can report directly to Hounslow Highways on https://fms.hounslowhighways.org/
